A Closed Transaction Every Five Days

But, things weren’t always that good.

I first started selling residential real estate back in 1992. Things took off with a bang but within months I was hobbling along. Then sadly, even with all my determination, I was forced to go back to my old job to supplement my income for several months.

At my second year in the business, I took off, averaging a closing every 5 days for almost five years. (However, many of these were ‘building-lots’, and it saved my neck.)

It didn’t take long however for me to slip back to the life of a struggling, stressed, and desperate feeling agent. I had spent more than I had made and had grown weary of running away from creditors and chasing my next deal as though my life depended on it.

I just wasn’t enjoying my career selling real estate. I knew there was lots of potential and I knew I could do it. What was wrong?

Help!

There had to be someone out there that could help me!

Back then, there was no such thing as “Buisiness Coaches”.

There was tons of “training”, and I would attend everything I was offered. I attended board sponsored classes, the Continuing Ed classes that were required, I attended everything that came my way … more than once; I knew all the trainers jokes, lines, and scripts.

I was a Seminar Junkie

And, a self-help and how-to-sell book addict. I spent more time reading than I did selling and I would pay hundreds of dollars to attend big conferences in and out of state. I also had garage full of audio training tapes by most of the popular national trainers.

I could get pretty pumped up, but I couldn’t get myself to consistently apply the things I was learning.

A Hidden Talent

A friend talked me into ... actually, she tricked me into attending a six month NLP practitioner course in Salt Lake City. (NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming.) Later, I ended up attending an additional six month Master Practitioner Course as well.

The whole idea behind NLP is to “Reverse Engineer” someone that is successful at something and then imitate how they think and act.

It’s Called, “Modeling” Success

The idea is that a person reaches their objective by “programming” or de-programming their mind to think, feel, and behave in ways that is helpful at an unconscious level.

I discovered that I had a knack with NLP. In fact, I was so consumed by it that I neglected my real estate career even more.

NLP Became a Two Edge Sword

But, with this tool and an empathy for my fellow agents, I was helping others to dramatically increase their numbers. In some cases, the friends I was coaching were doubling, tripling and multiplying their production by 10 in a short time.

Coaching eventually became my full time job; I fell into being a paid professional real estate coach and trainer. I now keep my real estate license active only as a side note. My real passion is in coaching residential  real estate agents and loan officers to increase their production and multiply their effectiveness.

I am forever changed.  I look different, (great) I feel different, (great), I AM different (great).  I am happy and feel fortunate you changed your career path from real estate to NLP training. The Problem with Coaching

Of course now, life coaching, business coaching, and production coaching has become very popular.

Here’s the problem though; to get a good coach is going to cost you no less than $50 to $200 per hour.  Most try to get you to sign a year’s contract at anywhere from $500 to $1,000 per month for only two to four hours per month of coaching.

Is it worth it?
